This time, the “owner” Johnathan, sent two goons that looked like between 18 and 22, who damamged my precious dinette set. Then had the nerve to demand 60 extra dollars at the door for stairs (this extra charge was never told to me a head of time). After I got confirmation from Johnathan through email (written proof) he was only supposed to charge me $135 flat rate including travel time for this ver small job. No contact info on agreement or invoice and he blacked out his phone number at the top of every document. Found out lots on how he’s scamming people after-the-fact (online). I will join any/all legal action against Supreme Movers. Email me: mslongterm@live.ca

Today, I had the bad luck of experiencing what you all experienced with Supreme Movers (or whatever name they operated under in the past). I found them on Craigslist and had no reason to doubt their rates, as I used Craigslist in the past to organize a move earlier in the year. I dealt with a person by the name of Jonathan (see northyorklady’s comments above) who quoted me $39/hr for two men with an hour for travel. When they arrived they asked for a $300 deposit, which I thought would be okay, as this is how much I had budgeted for the move. 45 minutes later (yes, that’s all it took to move my stuff in their truck, plus I helped them!!) they gave me a bill for an additional $638. They had crazy items on their such as “Stair charge – $160″, “Heavy Item charge – $160″, “Miscellaneous – $100″ and for the hour and half of labour they charged me $312. It seems as though there is not a lot the system can do about these guys … the police referred me to small claims court, but that won’t amount to much. I would like to protect others like myself from getting scammed by guys like this in the future. If you have any ideas, please contact me at movingtips@hotmail.com .

Congrats to all you people who helped putting these crooks behind bars. Today’s news (May 20th, 2010), the owners of Desi Movers (Father and 2 Sons) were arrested for frauds and scams just like this one described. They operated under 20 different buisness names. I couldn’t be happier because this same scenario happened to my family 2 years ago. They have arrested 6 people and are looking for more. Please contact 55 division and let them know what happened to you. I don’t care if we get money back as long as they will not be able to screw anyone else and are behing bars. Today is a happy day knowing that in some cases, justice does prevail.

MORE INFO: I AM SO HAPPY. Everyone who have already called 55 division in Toronto, you already know the swarm of people who have called them for support. For everyone else, the police constable’s name who is handling this case and phone number is as follows:
Police Constable Abdul Nuri
Badge #8625
55 Division
Phone# 416-808-5500
Now because of the high volume of calls, the lady on the front desk line advised me to go to my local police station and file a report on the matter and ask for it to be forwarded to the above said officer.
Please people, we have come so far. We have had media converage on these morons but there is still work to be done. Please go to your local division and file a formal report. Please please please. If you need motivation, then this of the day when these scam artists scammed you in broad daylight. I dont know about you guys but my blood boils everytime I think of it.
I am going to try to make sure these guys get the full extent of the law but need your help. Please email me with info or lets organize together. A.sangar@live.ca
We are the people of GTA and its up to us to make sure this dosen’t happen to anyone else.
Good luck to all.
